Libyan PM Dbaiba Meets President Al-Sisi in Cairo

On Thursday, Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi received Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba, the Prime Minister of Libya’s upcoming Interim Government. In attendance was Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli, and Head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Abbas Kamel.

Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, Bassam Radi added that Dbaiba valued the efforts of the Egyptian administration to resolve the Libyan crisis, and hailed Egypt’s support for Libya in combating terrorism and extremist groups. The Libyan PM also affirmed he was looking forward to establishing a comprehensive partnership with Egypt in security, stability, development and reform process.

“The current stage requires Libya to mobilize all efforts to prioritize action in various fields, starting with the restoration of security,” El-Sisi said. He also confirmed Egypt’s full readiness to assist Libya, “in a way that contributes to putting Libya on the right track.”

Radi stated that the two sides agreed to continue working closely together, and hold consultations on security and economic cooperation.
