Ageela Saleh: Libya’s Elections Depend on Mercenaries Withdrawal

Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Ageela Saleh agreed to hold a parliamentary session in the city of Sirte to vote on Prime Minister Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba’s upcoming government.

Saleh stated that Sirte was “the safest” city in Libya, and added that it could be the headquarters of the upcoming government.

He stressed the need to set an exact date for the withdrawal of foreign forces from Libya, noting that it would be extremely difficult to hold the elections scheduled for 24 December if the mercenaries remained.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Dbaiba and Head of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Mnifi held a meeting with members of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee (JMC) to discuss arrangements for the crucial vote of confidence session.

During the talks, they discussed the possibility of holding the session in Sirte, which has also recently hosted military talks between the JMC.
