On Friday, the Director of the Moral Guidance Department of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Khaled Al-Mahjoub, said that the army would only hand over its leadership to a democratically elected President by the Libyan people.

According to the Italian news agency, Nova, Al-Mahjoub added that the mission of the new government in Libya, which emerged from the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) aims to hold presidential and parliamentary elections in the country, in which the Libyan people express their aspirations in a free and transparent manner.

He pointed out that as long as there are still foreign forces present in Libya, including Turkish backed mercenaries, the need for an organized national army remains.

On Saturday, Al-Mahjoub said that there are no problems with the current executive authority and the Prime Minister, and there are no disagreements.
