On Monday, the Prime Minister of Libya’s Interim Government, Abdullah Al-Thinni, ordered the formation of a committee tasked with disinfecting and sterilizing all Libyan cities, to counter the outbreak of the Coronavirus in Libya.

Al-Thinni’s instructions came during a meeting held, at his residence in Benghazi, with Adel Al-Zaidi, Minister of Local Government, Awad Al-Darsi, head of the Board of Directors of the National Water Resources Corporation and Al-Taher Mohammed Al-Hamali, Director of the Prime Minister’s office.

During the meeting, the PM said that the committee will be headed by the Minister of Local Government, and its members would include the heads of the National Water Resources Corporation, the Environment General Authority, and the National Safety Authority, in addition to the mayors of municipalities.

The government would supply all operational materials, mechanisms and needs of the committee to carry out its work.

Al-Thinni also called on the committee to expedite the preparations for starting the sterilization campaign nationwide, in order to curb the outbreak in Libya.
