Six Libyan political blocs expressed their gratitude for the statement issued by the Group of Seven industrialized countries (G7) regarding support for the December elections, and the withdrawal of all foreign and mercenary forces from Libya.
In a statement, the political blocs confirmed that the statement was consistent with the Libyan people’s demands to hold the elections as scheduled on 24 December 2021, and without any further delays.
In their statement, they affirmed their full support for the frank and patriotic position of Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush regarding the need for all foreign forces and mercenaries to leave the country, to preserve the country’s sovereignty.
The statement demanded the Presidential Council and the Government of National Unity (GNU) take a unified position that preserves state sovereignty, and demanded the executive authority assume responsibility for protecting members of the government and condemning threats against them.
They also affirmed that the presence of foreign forces does not have the approval of the Libyan people and has not been approved by the Libyan Parliament. The statement denounced the calls of some parties to legitimize the presence of these forces.
The six Libyan political blocs are as follows:
The Civil Democratic Caucus
The Libya Revival Bloc
Al-Wasat Youth Movement
Libyan National Movement
