The Algerian Foreign Minister, Sabri Boukadoum, said his country supports the efforts of the Libyan executive authorities, represented by the Presidential Council and the Government of National Unity (GNU), to hold free and fair national elections.

Boukadoum also expressed Algeria’s support for the efforts made by the Libyan authorities to restore political and security stability in Libya, achieve national reconciliation, and unify state institutions.

“Algeria supports the Libyan authorities… to hold fair and free elections that safes the unity of Libyan territory and put Libya on the path of reconstruction, prosperity and growth,” Boukadoum said according to the Algeria Press Service.

During his opening speech to the Algerian-Libyan Economic Forum, which was launched Saturday in the capital, Algiers, Boukadoum explained that his country exerted all efforts to help Libya restoring its position. “The Algerian diplomacy moved with all its credits and power of influence at the regional and international levels in order to help Libya restoring its position,” the Algerian Foreign Minister said.

On the other hand, Libyan Prime Minister, Abdelhamid Dbaiba, and his accompanied ministerial delegation arrived in Algeria on Saturday for a two-day visit for business talks. The GNU, led by Dbaiba, will lead the country during a transitional period until the general elections scheduled for December 24th.
