The Libyan Minister of Health, Ali Al-Zanati, held talks with representatives of the French company DENOS regarding the provision of integrated management services to the Benghazi Medical Center. The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Medical Center, Fathia Al-Oraibi.
DENOS representatives expressed their readiness to implement the operations, and noted the possibility of training health workers and attracting specialised medical teams in various fields.
Al-Zanati stated that his discussions with the representatives of DENOS were positive, and were to reactivate the health cooperation agreements concluded between Libya and France, which have been suspended since 2011.
The minister pointed out that the measures for treating Libyan children who need bone marrow transplants inside France were also discussed. He claimed that the overall goal was to localise treatments inside Libya.
In 2007, Libya concluded several health cooperation agreements with France, which stipulated that a group of leading French companies in the field of hospital management would provide integrated management services for a number of medical centers in Libya. Other agreements were signed, under which French surgeons would perform major surgeries in Libyan hospitals.
