On Monday, the Libyan Oil Ministry invited the UK’s oil giant British Petroleum (BP) to invest in the country.

The ministry said in a statement that it appreciates the efforts of the UK government to help stabilize Libya, and support its sovereignty.

The ministry has shown great interest in cooperation and investment with international companies specialized in natural resources.
“This interest comes in accordance with the approach of the Government of National Unity (GNU), calling for encouraging foreign investment and stimulating the return of foreign investors,” the statement said.

The ministry pledged to provide support to the National Oil Corporation (NOC) in order to increase reserves, and raise production rates.
