On Monday, Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush held talks with her Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry on the sidelines of foreign ministers meeting of Libya’s neighbours in Algeria.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the two discussed bilateral cooperation frameworks, as well as coordination regarding the proposals put forward during the meeting, “to reaching a comprehensive political settlement of the Libyan crisis.”

Algeria is hosting the foreign ministers meeting with the aim of supporting a political settlement to end the protracted crisis. The foreign ministers of seven countries are participating, namely Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Sudan, Chad, and Niger.

Shoukry also called for “comprehensive and credible” elections in December 2021, in order to put an end to the extended transitional period, and end divisions.
