The Government of National Accord’s (GNA) Interior Ministry has recently launched a series of measures consisting in sacking and suspending the salaries of employees located in territories that are no longer under its control. Security personnel such as policemen have notably been affected by such measures.
Likewise, it was recently unveiled that the same measures were taken against employees in territories still under GNA control, as long as they were deemed to be supportive of the Libyan National Army (LNA).
Interior Ministry employees in towns such as Rhebat, Zliten and Zintan have reported to not having received any salary for the last few months as a result of them being deemed to be “sympathetic” and “supportive” of the LNA’s war to capture the Libyan capital. Police officers affected have appeared on Libya AlAan TV calling on government officials to end such policies.
The Interior Ministry has yet to respond or address these accusations.
