A delegation from national flag carrier, Libya Airlines held a meeting with their Egyptian counterparts EgyptAir to enhance joint cooperation in ground services at the Cairo and Borg El Arab International Airports. The delegation met with Egyptian officials, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the air transport industry.
According to a statement by EgyptAir, the meeting “is a continuation of the extended relations and joint cooperation between the two companies.” The delegation praised the ground services of EgyptAir, its employees, and the modern ground equipment at Egyptian airports.
The meeting was attended by the Libyan Airlines’ Director of Ground Operations, Taher Tantoush and the General Inspector of Quality, Engineer Abdel-Salam Fathi.
In October 2021, Cairo International Airport received Libyan Airlines flight LN202 from Mitiga International Airport. This was the first operation since 2014, following the unrest in Libya.
The flight arrived in Cairo carrying about 255 passengers, with all COVID-19 precautionary measures reportedly taken. The airport organised a protocol celebration inside Terminal I.
In 2021, EgyptAir and Libya’s Afriqiyah Airways signed a cooperation agreement in civil aviation security. This was based on a memorandum of understanding signed by the Egyptian and Libyan governments. Egyptian experts will follow up on the procedures to ensure the security of Libyan airports. These experts, will have wide powers to re-inspect luggage, bags, plane meals, and freight parcels. As well as give enforceable instructions to the interests of Libyan aviation in regards to security matters, according to “Egypt Independent” news website.
