Tunisian Parties Condemn Ghanoushi’s Position On Libya

Several Tunisian political parties criticised the phone call between Speaker of Tunisian Parliament Rashid Ghanoushi and Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez Al-Sarraj.

During a phone call on Tuesday, Ghanoushi congratulated Al-Sarraj on the GNA’s control of Al-Wotya airbase. The parties consider this a violation of Tunisian state institutions and non-interference in the Libyan conflict.

In a joint statement published on Wednesday, the parties called on the Tunisian President to respond to the claims that accuse Tunisia of providing logistical support to Turkey in its intervention in Libya.

The parties called for the government to take a firm stand against attempts to drag Tunisia into the civil war.

The parties also reiterated their solidarity with the Libyan people during this crisis, stressing their respect for their sovereignty and standing with them in the face of foreign interference.
