Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity, Najla al-Manqoush under scrutiny on social media due to her Twitter account blocking anyone who criticizes her decisions or that of her Ministry.

On World Press Freedom Day, Libyan activists, journalists, and commentators took to social media to call out the Foreign Minister for not playing a positive role in ensuring media freedom in Libya and accusing her of muting and blocking any criticism towards her rather than addressing her critics.

Mangoush is Libya’s first female Foreign Minister and enjoyed the public’s backing early on in her tenure after promising to be the ears and eyes of the people inside the government
The Foreign Minister fell from grace after calling for stability rather than elections and playing a leading role in ensuring the GNU stays behind its mandate.

Mangoush has been accused by journalists of turning down interviews and only carrying out choreographed interviews with foreign outlets while completely ignoring local media outlets.
