In implementing the Chairman of Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC), Farhat Bengdara’s decision No. 326 of 2023, Mounir Al-Maghribi has assumed his role as Head of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) branch in Benghazi.
The official handover ceremony was held in Benghazi, where former Director, Ayman Al-Mismari handed over the reins to Al-Maghribi.
During the transition ceremony, Al-Maghribi, as per the NOC’s media office, expressed his admiration for the efforts of his predecessor, wishing him all the best in his future endeavours.
Al-Maghribi emphasized that “an important challenge lies ahead, which involves fulfilling the vision of the NOC through the collective efforts of all, and focusing on accomplishing the anticipated objectives in the coming period.”
Last month, the NOC announced the completion of the drilling of the B4-49 oil well by the Mellitah Oil and Gas Company, with a production capacity of 1,800 barrels per day.
In a statement, the NOC indicated that this comes within the Mellitah Company’s plan to “improve and raise the level of production at the Bouri Offshore Field.”
Bengdara and members of the Board praised the new achievement. This adds to the successes made by the corporation and its subsidiaries in 2023.
The corporation announced that today’s crude oil production decreased to 1.221 million barrels. It added that condensate production reached about 16,000 barrels during the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, it noted that the total domestic consumption of natural gas amounted to 960 million cubic feet, during the past 24 hours.
Libyan crude oil production reached 1.214 million barrels per day (bpd), and condensate production reached 53 thousand bpd during the past 24 hours.
In a statement, the NOC added that the total domestic consumption of natural gas amounted to 676 million cubic feet.
According to the NOC, the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL), consumed the largest share of gas by about 504 million cubic feet, while the rest was distributed to the NOC, the iron and steel complex, cement factories and other small factories.
