Libyan Parliament Denounces Israeli Attacks on Palestinians

The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Libyan Parliament has condemned the military operation being carried out by Israeli occupation forces in the Palestinian territories of Gaza, and Jenin.

In a statement, the committee expressed its “extreme surprise at the shameful international, Arab and Islamic silence, which is not commensurate with the criminal escalation being committed by the occupation in Palestine.”

The Committee expressed its “full solidarity with the Palestinian people in their ongoing struggle against the occupation.” It called on the Arab League to hold an emergency session, to take a stand on the issue.

The Libyan Parliament described the Israeli military operation against the Palestinian people as a “crime.” The statement also called for “urgent Arab action to put an end to these massacres against the Palestinian people.”

Earlier, the Libyan Foreign Ministry condemned the continued escalation of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, the latest of which was the aggression on the Jenin refugee camp.

The Ministry called for an “immediate cessation of attacks by Israeli settlers in several Palestinian villages in the occupied West Bank,” according to the statement.

The statement affirmed its rejection of the criminal acts targeting Palestinian citizens. It called on the international community to take action against these actions.

Israeli occupation forces have been launching a military operation described as the “largest on Jenin and its camp since 2002” for days now.

The escalating violence in the Palestinian territories has drawn widespread condemnation from around the world. The United Nations has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, while several countries have expressed their support for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination.

At present, a total of 28 member states of the United Nations do not recognize Israel as a state. Libya is among those countries.
