The Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Najla Al-Mangoush welcomed a delegation from the Palestinian Foreign Ministry, led by Assistant Foreign Minister, Ambassador Imad Zuhairi at her office earlier today.
According to an official statement by the Ministry, the meeting discussed the efforts put forth by the Libyan government, to facilitate the residence of the Palestinian community in Libya. The initiatives were highly praised by the delegation. They were considered to contribute significantly towards the enhancement of Libya’s historical role, in supporting the Palestinian people.
The meeting also tackled the implementation measures for the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU), established between the two nations in economic cooperation and trade exchange.
They also discussed avenues to bolster bilateral relations, and solidify the historical ties between the two peoples.
On Tuesday, an official delegation from the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs arrived at Mitiga International Airport. The delegation, led by Zuhairi sparked renewed optimism in the diplomatic relations between Libya and Palestine.
The delegation was received by Rashed Abughufa, the Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The overarching objective of the visit, as clarified by the Ministry, was to bolster bilateral cooperation. It is seen as a tangible move towards further strengthening the already flourishing diplomatic ties, which have been nurtured over recent years.
