The Arab League’s General Secretariat has received a request from Egypt to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the latest developments in Libya.

The meeting is to be at the Foreign Minister level, according to Assistant Secretary-General Hossam Zaki.

Zaki said that coordination is currently underway with the Sultanate of Oman, which chairs the current 153rd session of League.

He added that the meeting is expected to be held next week. This is after the Egyptian request obtained support by several members.
