The Benghazi Security Directorate apprehended a drug dealer in the Bohdima area on Thursday. The arrest marks a notable victory in the ongoing battle against narcotics in Libya.

According to the Directorate’s statement, members of the apprehension unit attached to the Bohdima Criminal Investigation Department successfully arrested the suspect, who was in possession of a metal suitcase containing a substantial quantity of hashish.

The incident unfolded as officers patrolling the Bohdima area grew suspicious of an individual carrying a metal suitcase. Upon a search, they discovered 21 medium-sized and three large pieces of hashish inside the case.

The suspect, identified only by his initials “K.A.A.,” has been transferred to the Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Agency, for further investigation.

This operation is part of a broader effort by Libyan authorities to curb the spread of drugs in the country. The successful interception of such a significant amount of hashish underscores the ongoing challenges, and the determination of law enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking.

The incident has garnered attention for its demonstration of effective police work, and the importance of vigilance in areas known for illicit activities. It also highlights the need for continued efforts in drug control, and the impact of effective law enforcement on community safety.

Notably, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Benghazi Security Directorate arrested a liquor and hallucinogen dealer. He was found in possession of the illicit substances, alongside a hand grenade in the Al-Sabri area.

According to a statement, routine patrols from the Criminal Investigation Department noticed a vehicle with a suspicious individual inside. The individual appeared nervous when asked for vehicle and personal documentation, raising the suspicions of the department members. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 12 half-liter bottles of alcohol, ‘Erka’ hallucination pills, a small piece of cannabis, and a hand grenade.

The suspect was taken to the department for further inquiry. Upon interrogation, he confessed to dealing drugs. He has since been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.

The Benghazi Security Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to upholding law and order, and ensuring public safety against such illegal activities.
