During a meeting with Libya’s Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister, Ramadan Abu Janah, the Iranian top diplomat reiterated Tehran’s readiness to strengthen relations with Libya.
He expressed Iran’s willingness to contribute to Libya’s reconstruction projects, thereby solidifying bilateral ties between the two nations.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said Libya’s Deputy Prime Minister, Abu Janah conducted a fruitful meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian in Tehran.
This diplomatic engagement served as a pivotal platform for collaborative efforts, allowing both parties to address mutual challenges and identify potential areas of cooperation between Libya and Iran.
This diplomatic exchange builds on the positive momentum initiated during the July visit of former Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush to Tehran. The discussions reflected a shared commitment to expanding cooperation across various domains.
Notable agreements were reached, including the establishment of a joint high commission, the formation of political consultation committees, the enhancement of economic relations, the promotion of scientific and technological collaboration, and the coordination of specialized exhibitions.
On Monday, Abu Janah arrived to Tehran, on an official visit leading a delegation from the Ministry of Health. Abu Janah and his accompanying delegation were received by the Deputy Minister of Health, a high-ranking delegation from the Iranian Ministry of Health, and Libya’s Ambassador to Iran, Ali Al-Obeidi.
The Ministry said that the visit “comes in response to an official invitation from the Iranian Ministry of Health to explore the latest prospects of cooperation between the two countries.”
It added that Abu Janah’s visit would include “familiarising himself with the pharmaceutical industry in Iran, to enhance the experience of localising the pharmaceutical industry in Libya. He will also visit various scientific, academic, and healthcare institutions.”
The Iranian Embassy resumed its diplomatic presence in July, and the first Iranian cargo ship arrived at Misrata, after a suspension of more than ten years, according to the Iranian ISNA agency.
Souri, who headed the visiting Iranian delegation to Tripoli, indicated that the security situation in Libya had improved significantly, and living conditions were normal, expressing hope for the development of bilateral relations between Tehran and Tripoli.
On 12 July, the Free Zone Administration in Misrata announced the resumption of the work of the Iranian shipping line “IRISL” in Misrata port, through the shipping agent “Germa” Shipping Agency.
