On Saturday, the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, along with Ageela Saleh, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Osama Hammad, the Parliament-designate Prime Minister, embarked on an inspection tour in the flood-hit city of Derna.
This initiative underscores a national commitment to revitalize the war-impacted city, aiming to restore its vital infrastructure and rich cultural legacy.
The delegation, comprising senior military officials and development leaders, visited several key sites, including educational institutions, housing projects, and vital infrastructure. Their journey underscored the commitment to an inclusive plan for Derna’s renewal, spotlighting the urgency of restoring educational operations and fast-tracking housing projects.
The emphasis on completing these initiatives timely and to modern standards reveals a vision for a thriving Derna.
During the tour, the leaders voiced their commitment to ensuring these projects not only adhere to modern standards but are also completed within the scheduled timelines, highlighting a promise of quality and promptness in Derna’s restoration efforts.
On his part, Hammad praised the LNA’s general commander Haftar for his pivotal role in maintaining the country’s security, alongside the House of Representatives for its effective oversight of the reconstruction finances.
Particularly noteworthy was the inspection of the 2000-unit “Korean Buildings” residential project, symbolizing more than a housing initiative. It represents a significant step toward reestablishing Derna as a center of cultural diversity and historical significance, indicating the broader strategy to rejuvenate the city’s societal and cultural dynamics.
This high-level tour demonstrates a robust commitment to Derna’s physical reconstruction and reflects a strategic vision for revitalizing the city’s educational, social, and cultural pillars. By tackling immediate infrastructure needs and focusing on long-term development, Libyan leaders are paving the way for a vibrant and stable future for Derna and its inhabitants.
This concerted effort signals a new era of growth, hope, and prosperity, heralding Derna’s return as a beacon of Libyan heritage and unity.
