Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has stressed the need for a comprehensive reassessment of Libya’s recent trajectory, calling for a precise evaluation of developments to ensure progress toward long-term stability and national advancement.

Haftar Urges Strategic Review of Libya’s Developments

In a speech marking the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, Haftar addressed senior military officials, tribal leaders, members of the House of Representatives, as well as activists and media figures. He emphasized that the current phase requires a thorough review of past events and policies to better understand the country’s direction and correct its course where necessary.

Haftar stated that Libya stands at a critical juncture, where accurate analysis and strategic planning are essential to overcome persistent challenges and build a stable future.

Achievements Recognized but Require Reassessment

While acknowledging progress made in the areas of security and development during recent years, Haftar noted that these achievements must be carefully evaluated to ensure their sustainability. He underlined that success should not be measured solely by past gains but by their ability to deliver lasting results for the country and its people.

He added that maintaining momentum requires identifying gaps, addressing shortcomings, and reinforcing institutions through structured and realistic approaches.

Impact of Crisis on State Institutions and Citizens

Haftar pointed out that the developments Libya has experienced in recent years have had a direct impact on state institutions and their performance. He also highlighted the consequences for citizens’ daily lives and living standards, calling for practical solutions grounded in scientific and operational frameworks.

According to Haftar, improving governance and strengthening institutional capacity are key steps toward restoring public confidence and ensuring effective service delivery.

Regional Challenges Demand Careful Assessment

Addressing the broader regional context, Haftar warned that surrounding geopolitical developments are evolving rapidly and require close monitoring. He stressed that accurate reading of regional dynamics is essential for making timely and informed decisions that can mitigate risks and enhance Libya’s ability to confront emerging threats.

He concluded by emphasizing the importance of preparedness and strategic foresight in navigating a complex regional environment.
