UNICEF Providing Psychosocial Support in East Libya

In a significant effort to support the well-being of children and adults in Eastern Libya, UNICEF, in collaboration with the IRC-International Rescue Committee, has launched a series of psychosocial support sessions in the city of Al Bayda. These initiatives have successfully reached 228 children and 29 adults, providing them with essential support amid challenging conditions.

The program, which integrates sports and arts into the curriculum of local schools, aims to foster important values among the participants. By focusing on communication, collaboration, diversity, and acceptance, UNICEF’s activities are designed to nurture a positive and supportive community environment for both children and adults.

These sessions are part of UNICEF’s broader efforts to address the psychological and social needs of communities affected by the complexities of the situation in Libya. The organization emphasizes the importance of mental health and social support as critical components of humanitarian aid, particularly for children who are most vulnerable to the impacts of instability.

UNICEF has extended its gratitude to the EU in Libya for their financial support, which has been instrumental in the implementation of these vital programs. The collaboration between UNICEF, RESCUEorg, and the EU in Libya exemplifies the power of partnership in addressing the urgent needs of communities in crisis.

The ongoing support for psychosocial initiatives in Libya reflects a committed effort to ensure that children and adults in affected areas receive the care and support they need to thrive. UNICEF continues to work closely with its partners to expand these essential services, aiming to reach more individuals and communities in need across the country.
