A spokesman for the US State Department has confirmed that the United States has not changed its position on the Libyan crisis.

The US government continues to stand firm against foreign intervention and the armed militias that are being used in the country.

The United States remains concerned for the well being of the Libyan people due to the impact of the conflict on civilians and civilian infrastructure.

“The oil sector must resume operations without obstruction from the military militia,” the spokesman said.

He stressed only the Libyan people should address their country’s crisis through political negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations.

“It is necessary to finalize an immediate ceasefire within the framework of the United Nations-led (5+5) military talks, as well as respect by all parties to the UN arms embargo,” he added.
