Ralph Tarraf, the German Ambassador to Libya, expressed his enthusiasm following his visit to the Ali Qana Cultural House. In a statement on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Tarraf praised the dedication and impactful work of Ali Qana in the fields of art, culture, and education.

Ambassador Tarraf noted, “I am very pleased with my visit to the Ali Qana Cultural House. I was impressed by Ali Qana’s committed efforts in art and culture, and his determination in creating a cultural center for all generations.”

He concluded his message with gratitude, saying, “Thank you for the warm welcome. I will definitely return.”

the Minister of State for Women’s Affairs in the Government of National Unity (GNU), Horia Tormaal, welcomed Sven Kirsche, the b’Affaires at the German Embassy in Libya, along with his accompanying delegation.

The Dbaiba Government stated that the meeting focused on discussing bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two parties, particularly concerning women’s issues.

Tormaal expressed her welcome to Sven Kirsche and his delegation, and she highlighted her aspiration for further strengthening of constructive relations that benefit women and foster mutual interest in this field.

Libya has been in chaos since a NATO-backed uprising toppled longtime leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. The county has for years been split between rival administrations.

Libya’s economy, heavily reliant on oil, has suffered due to the ongoing conflict. The instability has led to fluctuations in oil production and prices, impacting the global oil market and Libya’s economy.

The conflict has led to a significant humanitarian crisis in Libya, with thousands of people killed, and many more displaced. Migrants and refugees using Libya as a transit point to Europe have also faced dire conditions.

The planned elections for December 2021 were delayed due to disagreements over election laws and the eligibility of certain candidates. This delay has raised concerns about the feasibility of a peaceful political transition.

Despite the ceasefire, security remains a significant concern with sporadic fighting and the presence of mercenaries and foreign fighters. The unification of the military and the removal of foreign forces are crucial challenges.
