On Friday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo discussed in a phone conversation with his German counterpart Haikou Maas, the situation in Libya along with ways to achieve global economic recovery following the Coronavirus pandemic.
According to the US State Department’s statement, the two officials discussed how to take steps toward a permanent end to the violence in Libya and engage in political dialogue to address the crisis.
The two sides also discussed Germany’s priorities during its presidency of the European Union Council and the United Nations Security Council, which started on July 1.
Pompeo and Maas discussed ways to achieve economic recovery in the aftermath of the Coronavirus pandemic and means if cooperation between the United States and the European Union to confront China.
For his part, the US Secretary of State affirmed his country’s commitment to bilateral transatlantic relations and the need for continued coordinated action to confront global challenges.
