The Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, announced a new phase of transformation centred on reconstruction and development during the first Southern Reconstruction Conference in Sebha.
Haftar described the conference as a starting point for implementing larger strategic projects across southern cities. He emphasised that rebuilding Sebha and the wider southern region has become a national duty, aiming to improve the lives of current and future generations.
He highlighted the long-standing neglect and marginalisation suffered by southern Libya, stating, “The south deserves much from us as it has contributed greatly to Libya’s unity and dignity.”
Haftar continued by saying that the time has come to kickstart development through projects that will transform Sebha and other areas. He envisions southern Libyan cities becoming attractive destinations for those seeking regions that are actively building their futures, making them appealing for both local and international investment.
He asserted that southern Libya is truly a “haven of peace, stability, and prosperity.” Haftar also noted that the LNA has gained the support of the Libyan people, who view it as a national project that has restored state institutions by eradicating terrorism in all its forms.
