Top US General Calls For Foreign Forces To Leave Libya

On Wednesday, the Commander of the US Central Command, Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie, urged all foreign forces to leave Libyan territory.

The American commander’s remarks came via a video conference organized by the Regional Information Office of the US State Department. This is following the end of a visit to Kuwait, where he affirmed the United States’ support for dialogue between the Libyan parties.

Libya has been marred in violence between competing forces, militias and extremists since the toppling and killing of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. The conflict now pits the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) against the Libyan National Army (LNA), led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, for control of the country.
