Libya’s Minister of Industry and Minerals, Ahmed Abu Hessa, welcomed UK Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden, to discuss ways to strengthen economic and industrial ties between the two nations.

Abu Hessa emphasised the importance of industrial cooperation to foster economic development, which is key for achieving stability and attracting investments.

The two officials exchanged views on expanding industrial and investment collaboration, focusing on strategic partnerships aimed at advancing Libya’s industrial sector, transferring modern technology, and technical expertise from the UK.

The discussions also covered the Libyan Tractor and Agricultural Supplies Company, a ministry subsidiary, with Abu Hessa underscoring the need to reinvest in this company to support Libya’s agricultural sector and enhance local production.

Highlighting the UK’s advanced manufacturing and technology capabilities, Abu Hessa expressed the ministry’s commitment to forming active partnerships that bolster Libya’s industrial competitiveness locally and internationally. He also looked forward to widening cooperation between Libya and the UK for mutual benefit.

Ambassador Longden reiterated the UK’s commitment to supporting Libya’s economic stability through enhanced cooperation. He expressed readiness to provide technical expertise that could bring significant progress to Libya’s industrial sector, viewing Libya as a valuable partner in the region.

This meeting aligns with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals’ goals to promote international partnerships and knowledge exchange to foster a competitive and investment-friendly industrial sector in Libya.
