The Libyan Parliament-designate government is gearing up to host an international road safety conference in Benghazi in January 2025.
The event is expected to bring together international and Arab companies specialising in traffic signals, electronic licence plates, and road surveillance cameras.
The announcement followed a coordination meeting between Major-General Salah Huwaidi, Head of Benghazi Security, and Abdel-Hadi Al-Hwaij, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, with Faraj Al-Hassi, the Foreign Minister’s advisor on organisational matters, also present.
The meeting focused on preliminary arrangements for the conference and exhibition.
Participants discussed the selection process to identify the best companies suited to equip Benghazi, with an option to expand these solutions to other cities in the future.
The conference aims to install advanced technologies for traffic management, including systems for monitoring violations and vehicle immobilisation.
Major-General Huwaidi highlighted the importance of the conference for strengthening road safety and improving the country’s traffic infrastructure.
He emphasised the need for effective collaboration among the relevant authorities to achieve the event’s objectives.
