On Thursday, the Director-General of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Belgassim Khalifa Haftar, participated in the opening of the sixth edition of the “Ambition Africa” conference, held in Paris under the patronage of French President Emmanuel Macron.
Haftar, accompanied by a Libyan delegation, represented the nation in discussions aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation between Africa and France.
During the opening session, key topics were addressed, including the future role of youth, development opportunities, the rise of smart cities, advancements in transport and logistics, and facilitating trade exchange.
Haftar presented Libya’s efforts in development and reconstruction, highlighting the progress made by the Development and Reconstruction Fund in implementing and completing significant projects.
He also emphasized the importance of smart cities as a cornerstone of Libya’s future development strategy, focusing on their potential to improve living standards and enhance infrastructure sustainability.
The two-day conference, attended by a wide array of ministers, ambassadors, business leaders, and decision-makers from African and French delegations, serves as a platform to strengthen economic partnerships and foster dialogue between Africa and France. Libya’s participation underscores its commitment to engaging with international partners and attracting investment to support its reconstruction and modernization goals.
Libya’s presence at the conference comes at a crucial time in its recovery efforts. Following years of conflict and instability, the nation is focusing on rebuilding critical infrastructure and reinvigorating its economy.
Initiatives spearheaded by the Development and Reconstruction Fund, such as advancing smart cities and modernizing transportation systems, are key pillars of this vision. By participating in global forums like “Ambition Africa,” Libya aims to position itself as a forward-looking nation ready to attract foreign investment and embrace sustainable solutions.
