On Wednesday, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), met with the President of Benghazi University, Dr. Ezzeddine Al-Darsi, at the General Command headquarters in Benghazi. The meeting underscored the critical role of Benghazi University in advancing education and fostering national development.

During the talks, Dr. Al-Darsi expressed the gratitude of the university community for Haftar’s continued support, particularly in the reconstruction of university facilities.

The rebuilding efforts, overseen by the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, have been instrumental in revitalizing the campus and enhancing the educational environment after years of conflict.

Haftar praised the university’s contributions to Libya’s progress, highlighting its success in producing skilled graduates across various disciplines. He emphasized the strategic importance of education in nation-building, noting that institutions like Benghazi University are key to preparing the next generation of leaders and professionals who will help rebuild the country.

Founded in 1955, Benghazi University is one of Libya’s oldest and most respected institutions. Despite the challenges of conflict and instability, the university has remained a cornerstone of the nation’s academic and professional development. Its ongoing reconstruction reflects a broader national effort to restore vital infrastructure and improve educational standards.

Haftar’s endorsement of Benghazi University aligns with his vision of using education as a tool to combat extremism and promote stability in the region. By fostering local expertise, Libya can reduce its reliance on foreign labor and create a self-sustaining workforce capable of addressing the country’s socio-economic challenges.

The partnership between Benghazi University and national leadership demonstrates a shared commitment to progress. With continued support, the university is poised to lead Libya’s educational and professional resurgence, becoming a beacon of hope for the nation’s future.
