Libya’s Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdelsadiq, met with Spanish Ambassador to Libya, Javier Soria Quintana, to discuss strengthening cooperation in energy and investment sectors.

The meeting, held on Thursday, highlighted the pivotal role of Repsol, a major Spanish company, as a key partner in Libya’s oil, gas, and energy sectors.

Discussions also touched on opportunities for Spanish companies in renewable energy, agriculture, railways, and food industry projects.

The Ministry of Oil and Gas’ media office stated that Minister Abdelsadiq emphasised the importance of hosting a bilateral business forum to foster economic partnerships for the mutual benefit of both nations.

Spain’s involvement in Libya’s energy sector has been significant, and the discussions aimed to expand that collaboration further.

Renewable energy and infrastructure projects were particularly underscored as areas of potential growth, aligning with Libya’s strategy to diversify its economy and modernise key sectors.

This meeting signals a renewed focus on fostering international investment and partnerships, particularly with Spain, to revitalise Libya’s economy and boost its development efforts.
