Libyan Prime Minister of the Parliament-designate government, Osama Hammad, has called for international oversight of the outcomes of the Bouznika talks between members of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the High Council of State (HCS) in Morocco.

Hammad welcomed the agreements reached, particularly on forming a new executive authority, including a Presidential Council and a new government.

He stressed the importance of involving the African Union and key international players, including Egypt, the UAE, Morocco, the United States, Turkey, Italy, France, and the UK, to ensure successful implementation.

The Bouznika talks concluded on Wednesday, with HoR and HCS members agreeing to form five joint committees tasked with appointing a new executive authority, reviewing economic and financial reforms, addressing local governance, tackling security issues, and investigating corruption and money laundering.

The delegates also agreed on a preliminary phase to prepare for national elections. This phase will be based on the constitutional declaration, political agreements, UN Security Council resolutions, the Geneva roadmap, and electoral laws finalised by the 6+6 Joint Committee. They also reiterated their commitment to the Cairo Declaration signed by both councils.

Hammad’s call underscores the significance of international support in resolving Libya’s political crisis and ensuring the successful implementation of the Bouznika agreements.
