Haftar & Egyptian Intelligence Chief Discuss Political Progress in Libya

Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), received Egyptian General Intelligence Service Chief, Major General Hassan Rashad, at the LNA headquarters in Benghazi.

The meeting highlighted regional and domestic developments, with both sides emphasising the importance of advancing Libya’s political process to ensure security and stability in the region.

During the discussions, Major General Rashad conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to Haftar, underlining the strong historical ties between Egypt and Libya. Rashad reiterated Egypt’s continued commitment to supporting Libya in its quest for stability and security.

Field Marshal Haftar expressed profound respect for President el-Sisi and the Egyptian people, acknowledging Egypt’s pivotal role in fostering peace and contributing to resolving Libya’s ongoing crisis. He praised the strategic partnership between the two nations, which he noted is crucial for maintaining regional security.

The meeting further demonstrated Egypt’s active role in mediating political solutions in Libya, reaffirming its dedication to a stable and unified Libya. This engagement underscores the shared vision between the two nations in addressing mutual challenges, including combating terrorism and promoting development.
