An Egyptian aircraft made an emergency landing at Kufra Airport in southern Libya on Thursday, citing a medical emergency among its passengers, according to Kufra’s Health Emergency Room.

In a statement, the Emergency Room reported that the aircraft’s pilot requested permission to land after a passenger required immediate medical attention. The incident prompted a swift response from the health sector in Kufra, which declared a state of alert.

Emergency teams and an ambulance were dispatched to the airport to transport the patient to the Martyr Atiya Al-Kaseh Educational Hospital for urgent treatment. No further details regarding the passenger’s condition have been disclosed.

The airline expressed its gratitude to the medical and emergency teams for their prompt and effective response to the situation. “Their swift actions ensured the patient received the necessary care in a timely manner,” the company said.

Kufra Airport serves as a vital link in southern Libya and has occasionally been used for emergency landings due to its strategic location. This incident highlights the critical importance of well-prepared medical and emergency facilities in remote regions.
