Head of the General Authority for Media, Culture and Civil Society, Jumaa Saeed al-Fakhiri, issued orders to immediately suspend all cultural events and gatherings until further notice.
This adds to the list of precautionary measures being taken by Libya in face of the international public health emergency.

Libya currently has no confirmed cases of the Covid-19 virus (commonly known as Coronavirus), however most of its neighbouring countries have reported several cases.

Libya is ranked 168th out of 195 countries in terms of how well prepared it is to face and limit the spread of epidemics by the Global Health Security Index. Knowing full well Libya is not capable of combating an outbreak, authorities have taken a series of measures to ensure it does not have to.
