Italian security sources announced the arrival of a group of 157 immigrants last night, the Italian news agency “AKI” reported on Friday, in addition to the monitoring of three other migrant boats in Libyan waters.
“Some of the boats that had immigrants on board departed from the Libyan coast between yesterday evening and this morning,” the sources said, adding that a boat left the coastal area east of Abu Kammash, the north-westernmost part of Libya.
“Two other ships were reported in Libyan waters, one of which was carrying 17 people while the other was carrying 15,” the security sources said.
They confirmed that among the total of 157 migrants who landed yesterday, 81 were recovered in the waters off of Lampedusa, 68 landed on the coast of Capo Rizzuto, and 8 migrants were tracked on the Pantelleria Beach in the middle of the sea, separating Sicily from Tunisia.
