A specialized medical team at Abu Salim Trauma Hospital in Tripoli has successfully performed a complex orthopedic surgery using the advanced Ilizarov technique, according to an announcement by Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU) Health Ministry.

The procedure was conducted on a 45-year-old woman who had suffered for over two years before receiving the external fixation device. The Ilizarov method is considered one of the most modern treatments for complicated bone conditions.

The Health Ministry stated this achievement reflects ongoing efforts to upgrade surgical services and introduce cutting-edge medical technologies. These improvements aim to treat challenging cases and enhance overall healthcare quality in Libya.

In related medical developments, an Italian cardiac team recently visited Tripoli to perform complex heart surgeries on children, demonstrating international cooperation in Libya’s healthcare sector.
