In a significant boost to crime-fighting efforts in Derna, the Criminal Investigation Department received reliable information about an individual from Sidi Khalid smuggling weapons and drugs into the city. The swift action underscores the ongoing commitment to enhancing security in the region.

Upon receiving the tip, investigative officers swiftly verified the accuracy of the information. The public prosecutor’s office subsequently authorized the necessary legal procedures. The raid was executed at the suspect’s residence in Sidi Khalid.

The operation resulted in the discovery of a substantial cache of arms and narcotics. Law enforcement officials seized two rifles—one Kalashnikov and one shotgun—along with two pistols, three shotgun cartridges, and 20 Kalashnikov rounds. Additionally, a significant quantity of drugs was found, including 50 pieces of hashish and 163 grams of a white substance suspected to be cocaine, along with a sensitive scale for measuring cocaine and a money counter. Moreover, various sizes of what is believed to be hashish were confiscated, totaling approximately 8 kilograms in weight.

All preliminary legal measures have been taken against the accused, and investigations continue in preparation for further legal proceedings.
