In a significant diplomatic and military engagement, the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Ground Forces, Saddam Haftar, held a high-level meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, in the Turkish capital Ankara. The visit is seen as particularly important given the rapidly evolving security dynamics in the region.

The official reception took place at the headquarters of the Turkish Land Forces Command, where both parties reviewed an honor guard and stood for the national anthems of Libya and Turkey before heading into a closed-door meeting.

The talks focused on strengthening bilateral military cooperation between Libya and Turkey. Turkish Land Forces Chief Bayraktaroğlu emphasized the importance of bolstering military ties and praised the Libyan Ground Forces for their role in maintaining national security and stability.

Saddam Haftar expressed his appreciation for the ongoing military collaboration, reaffirming Libya’s commitment to expanding cooperation across various defense sectors.

The two sides also discussed pressing regional security challenges, with a particular focus on combating terrorism and organized crime. Both parties agreed on the necessity of joint efforts and coordination to address these threats effectively.

The discussions included plans to enhance cooperation in military training and capacity building. Both countries are expected to increase the exchange of military expertise and conduct joint training programs in the near future.

This visit is part of a broader series of reciprocal meetings and engagements between Libyan and Turkish military officials, aimed at reinforcing defense collaboration amidst ongoing regional tensions.
