Mohamed Al-Hwaij, Libya’s Minister of Economy and Trade, participated in the extraordinary session of the Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level held at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, Egypt, this Sunday and Monday.
The meeting is part of the preparations for the 35th regular Arab Summit and the fifth Arab Development Summit, both scheduled to be held in Baghdad, Iraq.
The council discussed a range of economic and social issues slated for the summit agendas, aiming to enhance the journey of joint Arab economic action. Key topics included the development of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area and the completion of requirements for establishing a unified Arab Customs Union.
Discussions also covered the development and promotion of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Arab countries, devising a comprehensive plan to enhance the technical and vocational education system, and developing an Arab strategy for school and university health improvement.
Furthermore, the importance of the Arab Strategy for Food Security for 2025 – 2035 was emphasized, supporting sustainable development efforts and strengthening economic and social cooperation among Arab states.
Libya’s involvement in the meeting underscores its ongoing commitment to actively support joint Arab efforts and to foster economic integration and cooperation among Arab nations, aiming to achieve sustainable development and fulfill Libya’s aspirations for a brighter future.
