The Anti-Illegal Immigration Authority in Libya announced on Saturday the deportation of 48 undocumented Egyptian migrants.
According to a post shared on its official Facebook page, the Authority’s branch in Tobruk oversaw the deportation process through the Al-Emsaed land border crossing.
In a related development, the Authority also reported the transfer of 22 undocumented migrants of Egyptian, Sudanese, and Chadian nationalities — some of whom were infected with diseases — from its branch in Al Marj to the Greater Benghazi Detention Center for further deportation procedures to their home countries.
Earlier last week, on Tuesday, the Authority announced the deportation of 76 Egyptian migrants from Benghazi via the Al-Emsaed border crossing, after they had been apprehended during the Authority’s routine operations.
Furthermore, on Monday, the Authority confirmed the transfer of 200 undocumented migrants holding Sudanese and Chadian nationalities from the Qanfouda Detention Center in Benghazi to the Kufra Detention Center in preparation for their repatriation. Among them, 47 migrants were reported to be suffering from various diseases, and some had formal deportation orders issued against them.
The Libyan Anti-Illegal Immigration Authority emphasized its continued efforts to combat illegal migration and ensure the enforcement of immigration regulations across the country.
