Libya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr Abdul-Hadi Al-Hwaij, received a delegation from the Arab Federation for Accompanying Sports Cultures at the ministry’s headquarters in Benghazi.

The delegation was led by Ashraf Mohamed Ali, President of the Federation, and included members of the Executive Bureau. Also in attendance were the Director of Sports Affairs representing the Moroccan Ministry of National Education and Sports, and the Deputy Minister of Sports from Palestine, who participated as a guest of honour.

Dr Al-Hwaij reaffirmed the Ministry’s full support for the federation’s efforts and initiatives, pledging continued cooperation to help realise its objectives.

He highlighted the importance of sports culture in promoting noble values such as social harmony, tolerance, and the rejection of extremism and conflict. The minister also emphasised the cultural and social responsibilities of sports clubs alongside their athletic roles.

He noted that the Libyan Government, led by Prime Minister Osama Hammad and supported by the General Command of the Libyan Armed Forces, places high importance on developing both the sporting and social infrastructure in the country — including human capital, facilities, and a progressive sports mindset.

Members of the visiting delegation expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome in Benghazi and praised the constructive discussions and the minister’s forward-looking ideas, viewing them as strong endorsements of both the Libyan and Arab federations for sports cultures.

They also commended the city’s evident security stability, visible reconstruction efforts, and the substantial progress in infrastructure and sports development under the Libyan government’s administration.
