The Turkish Embassy in Libya announced on Thursday that it is considering organising a special Turkish Airlines flight from Misrata to Istanbul to evacuate its nationals wishing to leave Tripoli amid the ongoing security crisis.

In a statement, the embassy said flights from Misrata Airport to Turkey via Libyan carriers are continuing, advising Turkish citizens to check available flight schedules and make bookings accordingly.

The embassy also confirmed that it is working on arranging transport buses from Tripoli to Misrata for citizens interested in the flight, depending on the security situation. Priority will be given to children, elderly individuals, women, and Turkish nationals temporarily residing in Tripoli who wish to return to Turkey.

The announcement comes as Tripoli experiences heightened tensions and sporadic clashes between armed factions, raising concerns among foreign missions about the safety of their citizens.

Turkey is one of several countries taking precautionary steps to evacuate or assist their nationals following the recent violence in the Libyan capital.
