Belgassem Khalifa Haftar, Director-General of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, has inaugurated several key healthcare facilities in Benghazi following their full renovation and modernization.
The openings included Benina Rural Hospital, Kuwaifiya Hospital, Al-Keesh Specialized Clinics Center, and the Khalid bin Al-Walid Polyclinic — all of which had been previously neglected and were in urgent need of repair.
Each facility was equipped with the latest medical technologies and upgraded to meet modern technical and healthcare standards. These developments aim to strengthen the local healthcare system and restore essential services to the communities in and around Benghazi.
Benina Rural Hospital
After years of closure and deterioration, Benina Rural Hospital has been fully restored and is now ready to provide both primary and specialized care in a safe and modern environment. The reopening was attended by Members of Parliament, Libya’s Minister of Health, local officials, and Benghazi residents.
Kuwaifiya Hospital
A major referral center in eastern Libya, Kuwaifiya Hospital has also been reopened following comprehensive renovations. The upgrade is expected to support medical staff with an improved work environment and enhance patient care quality.
Al-Keesh Specialized Clinics
This center for primary and specialist healthcare was reopened after years of neglect. Its restoration will relieve pressure on other medical facilities and improve access to vital health services for city residents.
Khalid bin Al-Walid Polyclinic
This important polyclinic, located in the heart of Benghazi, has been brought back into service after a complete overhaul. The inauguration marked a symbolic “rebirth” of one of the city’s key healthcare facilities.
Belgassem Haftar stressed the Development Fund’s continued commitment to rebuilding essential infrastructure and improving the quality of life for Libyans. The restoration of these health centers reflects broader national efforts to revitalize Libya’s healthcare system after years of conflict and neglect.
