The final steps are being taken to inaugurate Sirte Gulf International Airport, one of Libya’s most strategic infrastructure projects aimed at boosting regional connectivity and economic growth.

A high-level committee, established by the Executive Director of the National Development Agency, recently conducted a field inspection at the airport to evaluate readiness for the opening. The committee was led by Engineer Kamal Suleiman, Director of Strategic Projects, and included top experts specializing in technical, operational, and security fields.

During the visit, the committee assessed the full operational readiness of the airport’s key facilities, including inspection and safety systems, passport control offices, the Civil Safety Authority, and airport administration. The visit focused on evaluating the latest technical, security, and organizational arrangements ahead of the airport’s long-awaited opening.

Sirte Gulf International Airport is positioned to become a key transportation hub in central Libya. It is expected to stimulate air traffic, enhance trade, and provide advanced aviation services for both citizens and businesses.

This major infrastructure initiative is part of a broader national development plan led by the National Development Agency. The agency aims to modernize critical sectors, with civil aviation among its top priorities.

The opening of the Sirte Gulf International Airport signals a new era in Libya’s development, promising to improve regional connectivity and support long-term economic recovery.
