The Libyan House of Representatives has expressed deep concern and sorrow over what it described as an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli blockade and military aggression.

In a statement issued Thursday evening, the parliament warned that the situation in Gaza has deteriorated into mass starvation, as a result of the prolonged siege and denial of access to food, medicine, and humanitarian aid.

The statement strongly condemned the Israeli actions, calling them crimes against humanity that demand immediate international intervention.

“These violations are a blatant breach of all international and humanitarian laws and conventions,” the parliament declared.

The Libyan lawmakers urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and warned that continued silence in the face of the genocide targeting civilians in Gaza, including children, women, and the elderly, amounts to complicity.

The statement called on the UN Security Council and the United Nations to take urgent measures to lift the blockade and allow unrestricted humanitarian access to the besieged enclave.

The Libyan House of Representatives also appealed to Arab, Islamic, and international parliaments to adopt firmer and clearer stances against the Israeli occupation’s actions. It further called upon free people around the world to break the silence and expose the truth of what is happening in Gaza.

Concluding the statement, the parliament warned that the ongoing blockade and famine will remain a permanent stain on humanity’s conscience, adding that “silence in the face of such atrocities is not neutrality—it is complicity.”
