Libya’s National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced the successful vaccination of 175,696 children across southern Libya, as part of a 10-day campaign targeting measles and rubella.
According to an official statement issued on Saturday, the campaign achieved a coverage rate of 95.8% of the total targeted children, which stood at 183,400. The NCDC praised the strong response from families and highlighted the effective collaboration of local and international partners, as well as the efforts of on-ground field teams.
The campaign is part of Libya’s broader public health strategy to combat highly contagious childhood diseases, especially in underserved and remote regions.
The NCDC also urged parents to continue with routine immunizations to ensure community protection and minimize the risk of outbreaks, calling on families to visit the nearest health center to complete their children’s vaccination schedules.
This initiative underscores the importance of preventative healthcare and represents a major step forward in safeguarding child health in southern Libya.
