The Units from the Libyan National Army (LNA), under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, carried out two successful security operations in southern Libya, resulting in the seizure of large quantities of weapons and ammunition from illegal storage sites.
In Al-Shati Municipality, the Special Task Force of the 101st Infantry Battalion—a unit affiliated with the Army’s Ground Forces—raided a house that had been used as a weapons depot by outlawed groups. Authorities confiscated a wide range of arms and ammunition.
Meanwhile, in Sebha, forces from the 5th Infantry Brigade, operating under the Security Units’ General Staff, stormed a farm where they uncovered 15 Howitzer artillery pieces along with a significant quantity of arms and munitions. The operation was conducted under the direct orders of Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Khaled Haftar.
These operations are part of the Libyan Army’s ongoing campaign to dismantle criminal hideouts, secure the southern regions, and neutralize any threats to national stability.
The Libyan Armed Forces have reiterated their commitment to enforcing the rule of law and maintaining security across the south, a region often plagued by smuggling networks and armed groups.
“These efforts are vital to eliminating crime hubs and enhancing national security,” an Army statement said following the operations.
