The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Libyan Parliament, Yousef Al-Agouri expressed his support for the statements of the German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, who visited Tripoli last Sunday.

According to the Information Office of the Libyan Parliament, Al-Agouri affirmed the parliament’s commitment to the outcomes of the Berlin Conference and a return to political dialogue as the only way to resolve the current crisis.

He also emphasized the need to work for the exit of all foreign forces from Libya and the resumption of oil exports, provided that its revenues are spent fairly and transparently.

“The Libyan parliament must give priority to restoring stability and preserving the country’s unity, which is what the initiative of parliament speaker Aguila Saleh aims to do.”

Al-Agouri expressed his appreciation for the role of German diplomacy and thanked the efforts produced by Germany to support the return of stability and peace to Libya.

Last Sunday, German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, had called for the resumption of direct talks between the warring Libyan parties.

In a joint press conference held with his Libyan counterpart Mohamed Siala, Maas emphasized that Germany adheres to the outputs of the Berlin Conference to resolve the crisis. Berlin rejects all military escalation and foreign interference in Libya.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring a fair distribution of oil revenues.
